Philippines Holidays for 2011

December 21st, 2010 | Posted by admin in My Stuff - (0 Comments)

The Philippine Holidays for 2011 has just been announced.  Sadly, we’re saying goodbye to the holiday economics/long weekends popularized by the former president.  Hopefully, this won’t affect local tourism.  I can’t understand why the present president let the long weekends go.  I think it’s just a brilliant idea.  Anyway, if you still plan to go for trips during holidays then mark your calendars with the holidays below:

Save the Date Cards

December 12th, 2010 | Posted by admin in My Stuff - (0 Comments)

During these hectic times, people have a tendency of saying yes to attending certain events or functions in the future, only to end up forgetting the date and going to another event, much to the disappointment to the person he or she first promised to. This propensity for forgetfulness has led to the creation of save the date cards.

Save the date cards are usually given out prior to an important happening, such as birthday parties, weddings, a debutante’s ball or corporate events like product launchings or anniversaries. They are mailed out 3 months to a year ahead of time. Some couples even give out these cards 1 to 2 years in advance, especially if the wedding falls on a holiday like Christmas or New Year.

These cards come in many styles, but they all contain a reminder of the date and time of the event. One practical save the date card comes with a refrigerator magnet so that the recipient could put it up on his or her fridge so they won’t forget.

Save the date cards are available in card and stationery shops. Some online shops even order cards that could be customized and/or personalized based on their client’s specifications.

Sport Trophies

sport trophies have always been considered as symbols of excellence. Athletes aspire and work hard to attain these top prizes and to see their names etched for posterity at its bases, as this would mean that they have achieved their goals and dreams.

There are many types of trophies that an individual could attain during periods of his or her life. Young children who participate in a sport for the first time could gain a small Participation Trophy just for being part of a winning team. Participation awards could also come in the form of ribbons, medals or plaques.

During adolescence, team trophies are usually large, column-types that are excellent for display in schools or at home. “Most Valuable” player trophies are smaller, or are given as resin awards (which are statues that resemble pewter) or sports plaques.

Most trophies for adults are towering, columned prizes which are gold and/or silver plated. Other trophies are in the shape of large cups into which the victory champagne is poured. Some prestigious tournaments award perpetual trophies, which are passed on to the winning individual or team in the succeeding years.

No matter the size or shape, sport trophies represent a person or team’s achievements in the sport they love and serve as an incentive to go on for even greater aspirations.
